Hurricane Harvey - How You can Help

The devastation in Houston due to Hurricane Harvey is incomprehensible. Several of my close friends and family members have been impacted by this catastrophe and it is absolutely heartbreaking.

If you follow me on Instagram then you know that my entire family was affected by this horrific storm. I am the only one with a dry home and a part of me feels guilty for it.

My parents, two brothers, sister, uncle and grandmother all live near the Addicks Reservoir which was under mandatory evacuation. My parents were able to leave early and came to stay with me. My brother, sister and grandmother and all their pets were rescued by boat. Because of their location, they are still unable to access their homes so we don't know how much damage has been done.

As you can imagine, this has been such a stressful time for many Houstonians. It breaks my heart to see so many families who have lost everything and I wish I could help everyone.  I know several Houston bloggers have done a post like this already but I wanted to create my own and share the many ways in which you can help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

JJ Watt Foundation - Houston Texans player JJ Watt created his own fundraiser already raising over $16 million.

Texas Diaper Bank - Helping coordinate diaper donations for those in need. You can also purchase items off their Amazon Wishlist.

American Red Cross - Text HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation or call 1-800-RED-CROSS

UMCOR - Donate a cleaning kit.

The Salvation Army - Helping to provide food and clothing to victims seeking shelter (1-800-SAL-ARMY)

Houston Humane Society - Helping local animals affected by the storm.

You can also check out the Houston Mom's Blog post on other ways you and your children can help.

I wanted to thank everyone who has sent such sweet messages over my way. I don't think I have ever received so many DM's, emails, text messages and phone calls in my life. I am so thankful for each and every one of you. All of your uplifting messages truly made it easier to deal with all of this devastation.

Please keep Houston, Rockport and all those affected by Hurricane Harvey in your thoughts and prayers.

xo, Mars
